How Grupo Reicon neutralized 100% of its 2025 emissions

A company rooted in the Amazon, on the Lower Xingu River (Pará, Brazil), working in transportation and regional development for about 47 years.

  • 100%

    of 2025 emissions neutralized

  • 2,144

    trees sampled

  • 66

    tree species identified

  • 37,000

    hectares of Amazon biome preserved

Challenge

Grupo Reicon needed to understand and manage its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in a structured, transparent way that met international measurement and reporting standards. The challenge involved consolidating data from complex operations (more than 80 vessels and six onshore facilities) and accurately identifying direct and indirect emission sources.

Specifically

  • No consolidated emissions inventory to support strategic environmental decisions;
  • The need to comply with international standards and recognized programs such as ISO 14064-1 and the GHG Protocol;
  • A high volume of operational data scattered across vessels, vehicles, electricity and industrial processes;

Our Solution

  • Enform carried out Grupo Reicon's first GHG emissions inventory, covering the companies Delima and Reicon and Scopes 1 and 2. The work followed ISO 14064-1 and the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program guidelines, with detailed mapping of emission sources: fuel consumption, electricity, refrigerant gases and industrial inputs.
  • The emissions calculated were fully neutralized through the carbon project at Fazenda Santo Ambrósio, a property owned by the group on Mexiana Island (Pará), with more than 37,000 hectares of preserved Amazon biome.

Results

  • Complete neutralization of 2025 operational emissions, with scientific validation of the carbon project;
  • A survey conducted jointly by the Enform team and botanists from the Museu Emílio Goeldi, producing the first collection of botanical samples from Mexiana Island in 125 years;
  • Detailed measurement of the forest's vertical and horizontal structure, a new benchmark for knowledge of floodplain (várzea) forests at the mouth of the Amazon;
  • A detailed phytosociological survey identifying the diversity and ecological role of the region's tree species;

Business impact

  • A stronger institutional image for Grupo Reicon as a sustainability leader in the maritime sector.
  • Compliance with international standards for measuring and offsetting emissions.
  • Environmental and reputational value created by combining operational efficiency with forest conservation.
  • Strategic positioning to meet growing market demands for decarbonization and ESG.
